Coronavirus has become a worldwide epidemic. The covid-19 strain has seen countries close their borders, people stockpiling food, supermarket shelves empty and in the UK, social isolation and rationing. This virus epidemic has impacted the UK heavily and many businesses and industries have been hit severely. Many people are choosing to work from home as businesses order workers (where they can) to work from home. The Government as of March 16th reiterated its point on the need for social distancing. Whilst some people have adhered to the advice, others have not. So how is coronavirus impacting escort services in the UK. There have been a couple of online articles that have popped up one example (read here) discussing this issue. So as more and more people self-isolate, will this lead to an increase of people booking escort services or a decrease. Well, social distancing is where people avoid gathering around others, including friends and family. So with everybody trying their best to manage how they will manage this COVID-19 outbreak, will people choose to distance themselves or not.
Many people have been told to work from home and many people will experience (especially if they live by themselves) isolation for long periods. This will indeed impact their emotional and psychological wellbeing. Loneliness in itself can impact peoples health and it could weaken their immune system. So there may be an increase in people booking escort services, especially from first time escort clients who need some basic companionship. Some laughter. Some conversations. To put this in context of the article and context of escort services, this is from a standpoint of an escort service being for time and companionship only. So what are the possible reasons for the escort industry to be impacted by the coronavirus outbreak.
- Self-Isolation: Many people who are displaying signs of coronavirus have been asked to self isolate. Escort clients and escorts alike will have to adhere to that. It is recommended everybody does to curb the spread of this dangerous pandemic. So fewer escorts will be working and fewer people will be booking escort services.
- Fear - Many people are limiting the contact with others. Instead of ignoring the advice from Government to socially distance people will actually follow the advice.
- Hotel Closures - Many travelling businessmen who still work may find that they have to work from home and even hotels will start to close. Thus, hotel escort bookings will start to rapidly decline.
- Restaurant Closures - For many people who book dinner dates, they will find that restaurants will start to close their doors.
- Adjustment - As people figure out how they are going to deal with this pandemic they may stop doing what they usually do to prioritize more practical things. So that means booking escort services will not be the top of people's priorities.
The Psychological Impact Of Self-Isolation
Human interaction is something that is healthy for the mind and body. So with many people facing possible being isolated for weeks there will be an emotional and psychological impact on them. Especially people with a good social life where they are accustomed to interacting with work colleagues and socialising with friends. Some people may really feel the strain and may turn to escort services for companionship. If you are somebody who has little to no friends and your only human interaction is work and work functions, then long periods of self-isolation could weigh heavy on your mental health.
What is apparent is that all businesses and all industries will have to find a way to survive this period but also safeguard their health and the health of others whilst doing so. It is all down to individuals having to make the right decision, until that decision is taken away from them by legislation. COVID-19 is an invisible enemy and to defeat it there will have to a a group effort as a country.
Just like many pubs, clubs, shops, restaurants and other businesses are choosing to stay open at this time on 18th March 2020, who knows what next week will bring. Some escorts may continue to operate, some will choose not to.
Stay Safe!
